So on March 4th the plumbing went in! I have to say.......it feels SO good to see some progress!
Then next came the prepping of the pad for the pouring of the foundation. This was something new to me. They dig trench like rows throughout the whole foundation. Then they covered it in a water resistant plastic. This was on March 6th.
This helps the foundation be really solid apparently. Then they put rebar within each trench. I'm sure this whole process has some really fancy name, but I don't know what it is!
And then yesterday................
This happened!!!!!!!!!! Yes, we are now the proud owners of a foundation!!
Kate and I were actually out there when the first drop of concrete went in. It was pretty cool! When we came back after school it looked like this.
This is our front entry
They did have a little hiccup in the beginning of the day. We had a huge rain here last weekend (I think 4-5 inches) so the ground is still a little soft. Well, the first concrete truck came in a little hot and cut it too close to the edge and went off the edge of the driveway a little. It slid the dirt into the ditch, covering the culvert and cracking one end of it. So.......they have a culvert to replace.
Today Matt got back in town so we went and checked it out again and the form boards were off and the driveway had been grated.
Driveway looks better!
No more form boards!

Standing in the garage looking to the left side of the house.
Standing on the back porch again. (Can you tell I love the back porch?!?!?)
Standing in the garage, looking at the front on the left and the neighbors to our side.
Standing on the front porch looking at our back yard.
Can't believe we're doing this!!!
They will be grating the dirt around the house this week and then by the end of next week framing will start!!! The past 2 days I've driven around looking at different brick trying to decide what we want. And I've come to the conclusion that I (think) I know what I want, but what they've shown me just isn't it. Praying we can find that "perfect" brick and stone. We're on a mission!!
